Publication Ethics
COPE

Moscow Journal of Economic Sciences adheres to international publication ethics standards set out in the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). This policy applies to all participants in the publication process: authors, reviewers, editorial board members, and the editorial office. Detailed guidance is available at publicationethics.org.

01

General principles of publication ethics

The editorial office is guided by principles of integrity, transparency, and accountability at every stage of preparing and publishing scholarly materials. We strive to ensure high quality of published research, protect the rights of authors and readers, and maintain the scientific community's trust in results published in the journal.

02

Responsibilities of the editorial office

The editorial office is responsible for publication decisions based solely on the scholarly significance, originality, reliability, and topical fit of manuscripts. Publication decisions must not be influenced by authors' sex, race or ethnicity, religious or political views, or commercial considerations.

The editorial office maintains confidentiality of materials at all stages of review. Information about a manuscript is not disclosed to third parties except to authors, assigned reviewers, and authorized editorial staff. Unpublished materials are not used without the authors' written consent.

Editorial board members and editorial staff must disclose potential conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from handling manuscripts in which such a conflict exists.

03

Responsibilities of reviewers

Review is conducted using double-blind peer review. Reviewers evaluate manuscripts objectively, with reasoned arguments, and within established deadlines. A review should contain constructive comments aimed at improving the work.

Reviewers must keep materials confidential until official publication. If a reviewer lacks sufficient expertise to evaluate a work or cannot complete review on time, they must notify the editorial office immediately.

Reviewers may not use ideas, data, or conclusions from a manuscript under review in their own research before it is published. Reviewers must decline review when a conflict of interest exists.

04

Responsibilities of authors

Authors submit only original works to the editorial office. A manuscript must not be under consideration elsewhere and must not have been previously published, except in cases expressly agreed with the editorial office.

Authors are responsible for the accuracy of presented data, correctness of calculations, and interpretation of results. Borrowed material must be properly cited with references to primary sources. Authorship must reflect each co-author's actual contribution.

Authors must disclose research funding and any potential conflicts of interest. If substantial errors are discovered in a published article, the author must notify the editorial office immediately.

05

Plagiarism and misconduct

The editorial office does not tolerate plagiarism, self-plagiarism, data falsification or fabrication, or simultaneous submission of the same work to multiple journals. Gift and ghost authorship are also unacceptable.

All manuscripts are checked using «Антиплагиат». The minimum acceptable text originality level is 75%.

When misconduct is identified

The editorial office may reject a manuscript, retract a published article, or initiate an investigation in accordance with COPE recommendations.

06

Complaints and appeals

Complaints about published materials or about the conduct of authors, reviewers, or editorial board members are considered by the editorial office on a case-by-case basis. The editorial office requests necessary clarifications from interested parties and decides on the basis of available evidence.

To submit a complaint or appeal, contact the editorial office at econ@mnauk.ru.

When misconduct is confirmed

The editorial office may publish a correction, an expression of concern, or retract an article. A retraction notice is posted on the article page with reasons stated and a record of the original publication preserved.
